To fully appreciate the value and range offered by these computer-based tools, it is helpful to understand its design and technology in addition to content.
What is multimedia?
Multimedia is the use of different media in one production. Narration, sound, visual effects, animation, full motion video, still video, graphics, text, and music are all blended together to create a new type of medium. Multimedia is similar to a library from which you can take an image, text, video, music, and speech, and combine them in a way that fits the context in which they are used. The particular strength of multimedia is the role of interactivity, i.e. the fact that the different media can be accessed separately. The computer-assisted training programs are delivered on compact discs.
A single compact disc can store any of the following:
- Up to 74 minutes of full motion video
- Up to 7,000 full color still pictures
- Up to 74 minutes of animation
- From 2 hours of high-fidelity sound to 19 hours of speech-quality sound
- Up to 250,000 pages of text
The Certification Board for Sterile Processing & Distribution (CBSPD) has granted HTS' educational programs their approval to issue CEU certificates.
